The word rebel can be very controversial. It conjures up memories of a past that some wish never to forget and others wish wouldn't be remembered, or, at least, celebrated. It has many different meanings to many different people. Just like the word itself. REBEL: A soldier in the Confederate American Civil War army. REBEL: A person who rises up in opposition to an established order. In this instance we mean the latter.
